Feeding The Soil That Feeds Us
Last week, officials from SWACO and the City of Columbus cut the ribbon on our region’s only class 2 compost facility at the Columbus Waste and Reuse Convenience Center on Alum Creek Drive. The site hosts a Green Mountain Technologies Earth Flow composter that will turn up to 400 tons of material per year from the city’s nine food waste drop-off sites into rich, healthy compost that will then be donated to the network of community gardens around the city.
